Action
1 - Induction of ovulation in the early season heat
2 - Treatment of anoestrus by lactation in the absence
of the corpus luteum
3 - Abolition of estrus, either during or long cycle
regularly cycling females.
4 - Cycle control services during the season for an
efficient use of Padrilla or semen.
5 - Prevention of loss of early embryo.
Indications
PROGESTAL is indicated to suppress
estrus in mares and sows to allow for a more predictable
emergence as from the end of treatment.
It is used clinically to establish normal cycles during
the transitional period of the mares that develops
between the anestrous and breeding season, often in
conjunction with an artificial photoperiod.
It is more effective to achieve pregnancy when it
is applied in the final phase of the transition period.
It is suggested to select mares with significant follicular
activity (Yeguas with one or more follicles of 20
to 30 mm) for the treatment during the transitional
phase.
The mares that have been in estrus for 10 days or
more and have ovaries assets are also considered excellent
candidates for treatment with progestins.
PROGESTAL is effective in mares that
are cycling normally to minimize the need for estrus
detection for synchronization of estrus and to allow
the scheduling of services. PROGESTAL is
also used in the suppression of estrus in mares or
mares exposure to career.
Although the drug is contraindicated in pregnant animals,
its effectiveness has been demonstrated in the maintenance
of pregnancy in ovariectomized mares, and may be beneficial
in the treatment of mares that aborted as a result
of subtherapeutic levels of progestins normal.
Contraindications
Do not use during pregnancy when progesterone levels
are normal in cases of uterine inflammation acute, subacute
or chronic.
No co-administered with rifampicin.
Precautions
Use gloves when handling the product, avoid any contact
with the skin.
Should not be handled by women who are pregnant or suspect,
people who are thrombophlebitis, cerebrovascular disease
